FIB-4 calculator

For healthcare professionals. The first step of the fibrosis pathway in adults with MASLD.

These calculators are for doctors and other healthcare professionals. If you are a patient, please do not interpret your own results: share your blood test with your doctor. For a simple check made for patients, try Am I at risk?

Open the calculator hub: Agile 3+, Agile 4, FAST, FibroScan explainer, FLI, HSI, HOMA-IR and more →

Enter the patient's values

FIB-4 = (age × AST) ÷ (platelets × √ALT). Below 1.3 (2.0 if aged 65 or over) makes advanced fibrosis unlikely; 2.67 or above makes it likely. Not validated under age 35. Based on the EASL–EASD–EASO 2024 and AASLD 2023 guidance. Read the method, intended users and limits.

NAFLD fibrosis score (NFS) calculator

For healthcare professionals. An alternative first-line score to FIB-4, useful when albumin and BMI are at hand.

Enter the patient's values

Below −1.455 (0.12 if aged 65 or over) makes advanced fibrosis unlikely; above 0.676 makes it likely. Obesity and diabetes push the score up. Read the method and limits.

Why no APRI calculator? APRI was developed for hepatitis C and is less accurate in MASLD; current guidelines prefer FIB-4 or NFS.
