Is alcohol safe with fatty liver?

In short

No amount is proven safe. Alcohol adds to the damage from fat, so less is better and none is best if there is scarring.

When metabolic risk and moderate drinking come together, doctors call it MetALD. The liver is hit from two sides and damage can be faster.

If you have advanced fibrosis or cirrhosis, stop alcohol completely. Be open with your doctor about how much you drink.
